Medtronic offering $1.25 billion in notes

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Medical device maker Medtronic Inc. said Tuesday it is offering $1.25 billion in senior notes and will use the proceeds for general purposes and to repay a portion of outstanding commercial paper.

The company is offering $550 million in 4.5 percent senior notes due 2014, $400 million of its 5.6 percent senior notes due 2019, and $300 million of its 6.5 percent senior notes due 2039.
