Wright Medical Group, Inc. Supports OREF Foot and Ankle Fellowship Grant for 2009-2010

ARLINGTON, Tenn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Wright Medical Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: WMGI – News), a global orthopaedic medical device company, has entered into an agreement with the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation (OREF) to broaden its support for advancing care through education and training by underwriting an OREF foot and ankle fellowship grant for 2009-2010.

The agreement establishes OREF as the company’s grant-making organization in graduate medical education for the coming academic year. The agreement stipulates that all aspects of the application, review, and grant approval process will be independently conducted by OREF.

“Partnering with OREF to support graduate medical education in a completely transparent way upholds the Wright tradition of setting new standards,” said Gary D. Henley, President and CEO. “We are proud to further excellence in patient care by supporting excellence in training.”

“Wright and OREF have a long history of collaborating to advance orthopaedic care through education and research,” said William P. Cooney III, M.D., chair of the OREF board of trustees. “The additional support for a 2009-2010 foot and ankle fellowship is particularly appreciated as we look for new ways to maintain the rigor of training for orthopaedic surgeons while managing escalating costs and adhering to ethical business practices.”
