Medacta® International to Host First World Conference on the Anterior Hip Approach

CAMARILLO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Medacta® International, a manufacturer of total joint replacement systems and innovative surgical techniques, today announced that it is hosting the first world conference on the anterior hip approach, also referred to as the AMIS® procedure.

The conference, which will be held September 10-12th in Zurich, Switzerland, will include live surgeries that will use the Anterior Minimally Invasive Surgery (AMIS) procedure, and introduce participants to two new products – a resurfacing product called Romax® and a femoral stem called the AMIS stem, which was specifically designed for an AMIS procedure. Approval of both products for use within the United States is pending.

“Hip replacement surgery has been one of the most successful interventions for patients in modern medicine and using a technique that eliminates the need for cutting muscle is a significant leap forward,” said Craig Grabell, CEO of Medacta USA, Inc. “At Medacta, we hold firm to providing intensive training and education to surgeons who are going to perform this procedure.”

In addition to learning about the new products, participants will have access to internationally recognized faculty who will be speaking throughout the conference about the AMIS procedure, as well as about computer-aided surgery (CAS). Surgeons from the United States who have completed extensive AMIS training and will be presenting at the conference include: Dr. Tyler Goldberg from Austin, Texas, Dr. Robert Greenhow and Dr. Craig Loucks from Denver, Colo., Dr. Gary Botimer from Boise, Idaho and Dr. David Jevsevar from Saint George, Utah.
