Orthopedics Today Hawaii introduces the International Congress for Joint Reconstruction as a joint meeting sponsor in 2012

Thorofare, NJ — Orthopedics Today Hawaii is pleased to announce the 2012 meeting will be jointly sponsored by Orthopedics Today, the International Congress for Joint Reconstruction and Vindico Medical Education. Orthopedics Today Hawaii 2012 will be held January 15-18, 2012 at the Fairmont Kea Lani in Maui, Hawaii.

“This year’s meeting brought together more than 400 orthopedists from 46 states and 8 countries,” Course Director of Orthopedics Today Hawaii and Chief Medical Editor of Orthopedics Today, Douglas W. Jackson, MD, said. “The word is out that the Orthopedics Today Hawaii meeting offers a comprehensive agenda; valuable CME and one-on-one interaction with top-notch faculty — and now this new partnership with ICJR is going to take us even further in the world of orthopedic education.”

The International Congress for Joint Reconstruction (ICJR) formed in 2007 to change the status quo of orthopedic education by building the next generation of education and community for physicians involved with joint reconstruction. It is an independent, nonprofit organization that is dedicated to reinventing the ways we gain knowledge that improves patient outcomes. Proceeds from ICJR activities will be reinvested in the professional societies, charities and organizations relevant to the critical issues in orthopedics.

“On behalf of the ICJR Board of Directors, I’m happy to announce that ICJR, Orthopedics Today and Vindico Medical Education have developed an alliance that will enhance the mission of ICJR to continue its philanthropic educational efforts,” ICJR President and CEO, W. Norman Scott, MD, FACS, stated. “With the proven leadership of Orthopedics Today and Vindico Medical Education, in both electronic and print media, we are enthusiastic about our new alliance developing new educational opportunities for all members. We welcome all orthopedists who perform joint replacements to join ICJR and avail themselves of the most up-to-date information in the world of arthroplasty.”

Orthopedics Today is the only clinical newspaper for orthopedic professionals. It reports on clinical advances in musculoskeletal care and socioeconomic news related to the broad practice of orthopedics. Orthopedic surgeons choose Orthopedics Today to stay on top of their field and to get the latest information related to the business of orthopedics and practice management. As a monthly newspaper that delivers clinical news with perspective to more than 26,500 orthopedic professionals, Orthopedics Today calls on the distinguished physicians of its Editorial Board to participate as faculty.

Vindico Medical Education is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide AMA PRA Category 1 Credits to attending physicians.

In 2011, Orthopedics Today Hawaii introduced a new program format, which offered attendees an expanded and more engaging experience. New features and benefits included doing away with a two-track (total joint/sports medicine) system, so attendees did not have to choose which sessions to attend, a new anatomy-based agenda created more focused presentations in sports medicine, total joint and trauma surrounding the knee, hip and shoulder; additional interactive sessions were scheduled throughout the program, including Banyan Tree Gatherings; and attendees were offered the opportunity to earn more continuing medical education credits than ever before.
