 Danville (Va.) Spine Center welcomed traumatic spinal disorder surgeon Leon Abram, MD. He completed his spine fellowship training at the University of South Florida in Tampa and has participated in developing instrumentation and minimally invasive surgical equipment during his career.

South Peninsula Orthopedics in Homer, Alaska, recently welcomed orthopedic and spine surgeon Brent M. Adcox, MD. He completed a spine fellowship at South Texas Spinal Clinic in San Antonio.

Mount Auburn, Ohio-based Mayfield Clinic recently welcomed spine and neurosurgeon Norberto Andaluz, MD, to the practice. He underwent neurosurgery fellowship training at Cincinnati Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

NorthShore University HealthSystem named Julian Bailes, MD, chair of the department of neurosurgery and co-director of NorthShore Neurological Institute. He is a founding member and director of the Brain Injury Research Institute.

Neurosurgeon Nicholas M. Barbaro, MD, was recently named the chair of the department of neurological surgery at Indiana University and the first medical director of the new Indiana University Health Neurosciences Center of Excellence.

Theodore Belanger, MD, an orthopedic spine surgeon, joined Texas Back Institute in Plano.

Neurosurgeons J. Brad Bellotte, MD, and Raymond Sekula, MD, both joined the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Hamot in Erie, Pa. Dr. Bellotte became the chief of neurosurgery at UPMC Hamot and Dr. Sekula directs the hospital’s cranial nerve disorders program, among other leadership positions.

Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg, MS, has welcomed neurosurgeon Kerry Bernardo, MD, to the medical staff. He is a member of the Society of Neuroscience and American College of Surgeons.

Frank Bishop, MD, a neurosurgeon with a special interest in spine surgery, joined Northern Rockies Neurological Associates in Kalispell, Mont. He completed his fellowship in spine surgery at the Neurological Institute of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati welcomed Benjamin Burkett, MD, a spine surgeon.

Neurosurgeon Alice Cherqui, MD, recently joined the West Tennessee Neurosciences and Spine Center. She completed her fellowship in complex spine surgery at Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.

Children’s Hospital Boston has named Alan R. Cohen, MD, neurosurgeon-in-chief and chair of the hospital’s department of neurosurgery. He will replace Michael Scott, MD, and plans to establish a new Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery Laboratory in his new role.

Neurosurgeons Vladimir Dadashev, MD, and Sachin N. Shah, MD, recently joined Neurological Surgery in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Dr. Dadashev focuses on degenerative diseases of the spine and spinal tumors, and he also treats brain tumors using 3D navigation and neuro-endoscopy. Dr. Shah has a professional interest in performing complex and revision spine surgery for conditions like adult scoliosis and spinal cord tumors.

Southeastern Spine Center & Research Institute in Sarasota, Fla., recently welcomed Tan Duy Ly, DO. He completed his spine fellowship at the Spine Institute of Arizona in Scottsdale.

Bronson Healthcare Group’s Bronson Orthopedics & Sports Medicine recently welcomed Joshua Ellwitz, MD. He completed his fellowship in adult and pediatric spinal deformity at the University of California-Davis and he has a special interest in minimally invasive procedures.

Bryan Fox, MD, became medical director of Sentara Obici’s Comprehensive Spine Care Services in Suffolk, Va.

Orthopedic spine surgeon Keith Eugene Girton, MD, joined Laser Spine Institute in Philadelphia. He is trained in musculoskeletal trauma, sports injuries and treating degenerative diseases through endoscopic spinal procedures.

John Olsewski, MD, joined NYU Langone Orthopaedics at Westchester (N.Y.) and has been appointed professor in the department of orthopedic surgery, division of spine service, at NYU Langone Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in spine surgery at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

Excelsior Orthopaedics named Ross Sherban, DO, leader of its Excelsior Spine Center in Orchard Park, N.Y. Dr. Sherban completed a fellowship in spine surgery at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston.

Issada Thongtrangan, MD, joined The Orthopaedic and Spine Institute in San Antonio. He completed a spine fellowship at Texas Back Institute in Plano and additional orthopedic trauma training at Virginia Commonwealth University.
