Titan Spine Signs Distribution Agreement with Biomet for Endoskeleton® Interbody Fusion Devices in Europe

Initial Distribution in Germany, with Broader EU Distribution in Coming Months

MEQUON, Wis.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Titan Spine, a medical device surface technology company focused on developing innovative spinal interbody fusion implants, today announced that it has signed a distribution agreement with Biomet to bring the Titan Spine Endoskeleton® line of interbody fusion devices to practicing spine surgeons in Germany.

Kevin Gemas, President of Titan Spine, said, “Biomet is not only a leader in global spine technology, it shares our philosophy that titanium and engineered surface technology can be used to enhance fusion and bone growth upon implantation of interbody fusion devices, leading to improved patient outcomes. We are pleased to enter into this partnership with Biomet with the goal of bringing Titan Spine devices to more physicians and patients in Europe.”

Under the agreement, Titan Spine will provide the Endoskeleton® line of products to Biomet for distribution in Germany. The companies will also consider broadening the scope to reach physicians in additional countries within the European Union.

The full line of Endoskeleton® devices features Titan’s proprietary implant surface technology, consisting of a unique combination of roughened topographies at the macro, micro, and cellular levels. The combination of surface levels is designed to create an optimal host-bone response and actively participate in the fusion process by promoting new bone growth, encouraging natural production of bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) and creating the potential for a faster and more robust fusion.

“Biomet is excited about the new partnership with Titan Spine,” said Jim Cloar, General Manager for Biomet’s Global Spine business. “The addition of the Titan interbody fusion technology to Biomet’s comprehensive portfolio of spinal solutions will provide surgeons and their patients with a broad offering of innovative treatment options.”

Marcus Klarl, Titan Spine’s Vice President of Sales, Europe, said, “Titan Spine has experienced significant sales growth in the last year in the United States and we are extremely pleased to collaborate with Biomet, a leader in the musculoskeletal and orthopedic spaces, to offer Titan’s advanced surface technology to a broader physician base in Europe.”
