Orchid Offers Sintered Porous Coatings

Hi Valued Customer,

The Orchid coatings facility in Memphis, TN is the world’s largest contract supplier of sintered porous coatings to OEM orthopedic manufacturers. Orchid has provided porous coating services for over 30 years. Sintered porous coatings are applied to a wide range of implants, including components of total hip, total knee, shoulder, and spine disc systems. Additionally we porous coat cardio-vascular implants for unique blood-contacting properties. Porous coating onto other extremity, dental, and also canine implants is available.

COATING TYPES

  • SPHERICAL BEAD COATING can be applied onto Ti6Al4V or CoCr alloy components. Spherical bead coatings typically have a smooth tactile feel owing to the spherical beads. Some roughening is possible through appropriate coating techniques.
  • ASYMMATRIX® is an irregular powder coating available for Ti6Al4V or CoCr alloy components. The powder is sintered onto the implants using standard techniques. The surface has a rough tactile feel, which provides better scratch fit than spherical bead coatings.
  • OSSEOMATRIX® is a cancellous bone-like coating available for Ti6Al4V components. It possesses an open cell porous structure of CP titanium powder deposited onto polyurethane foam using a proprietary process. The metallized foam is then sintered onto implant surfaces. OSSEOMATRIX® is also available as fully porous material from which bone augments can be machined.
