Carolina Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center Installs Viztek OTC System

RALEIGH, NC–(Marketwired – Mar 31, 2015) – Viztek, the leading provider of complete digital software and hardware diagnostic imaging solutions, announced that its Overhead Tube Crane (OTC) system has been installed at the new state-of-the-art Carolina Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center (COSM) in Gastonia, North Carolina. The new system combines the benefits of Viztek’s existing upright and table systems into one unit, providing a complete DR room replacement for COSM, and providing ease-of-use benefits for technologists.

“The decision to install the Viztek OTC system was an easy one,” said Chad Ghorley, Chief Executive Officer of Carolina Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center. “We currently use other Viztek digital x-ray systems, so as we were expanding to our new facility, it was the obvious choice to look at the Viztek OTC to upgrade from CR to DR. After our due diligence and research regarding the options, the Viztek OTC solution proved to offer the best quality.”

Carolina Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center has been a Viztek customer since 2009, having previously purchased the Viztek U-Arm system as well as the Viztek Opal PACS. When moving to their new location, COSM was set on updating their equipment to make both of their x-ray rooms fully digital.

The Viztek OTC system allows for versatility and ease-of-use to enable faster processes for technologists and patients. High-resolution images are available in just seven seconds. At the Carolina Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center, X-Ray technologists say the Viztek OTC enables them to use different imaging techniques, especially on foot and ankle images. Ghorley said physicians want and need to see those intricate angles and quality images, which the OTC delivers.
