Laser Spine Institute Welcomes Board-Certified Orthopedic Spine Surgeon

Robert J. Blok Jr., D.O. to care for patients at the company’s Cincinnati facility

January 20, 2016 (CINCINNATI) – Laser Spine Institute, the leader in minimally invasive spine surgery, is proud to welcome board-certified Orthopedic Spine Surgeon Robert J. Blok Jr., D.O., to the organization, where he will care for patients at its Cincinnati location. Following the five new surgeons to join Laser Spine Institute in 2015, Dr. Blok marks the first surgeon addition to the organization in 2016.

“We’re pleased to have Dr. Blok aboard as our newest Orthopedic Spine Surgeon in Cincinnati,” saidDavid Pillsbury, President, Laser Spine Institute. “Dr. Blok’s respected surgical experience in the Midwest, paired with his commitment to holistic treatment, make him an ideal fit for our surgical team in Cincinnati.”

Minimally invasive spine surgery was a point of fascination from early on in Dr. Blok’s career, with the young surgeon even traveling abroad to Germany for intensive study on how best to perform the craft. His experience there enriched his learnings and provided multiple career opportunities, including illustrious posts in which he instructed fellow surgeons, and assuming the role of Chief of Surgery at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

Along with being certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Blok is also a member of the American Osteopathic Orthopedic Association, North American Spine Society, Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery and American Osteopathic Association.

Dr. Blok received his medical degree from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his residency at Summa Health System, and fellowship with Combined Orthopedic and Neurosurgical at Jewish Hospital.

All new surgeons are required to complete an internal fellowship program prior to performing surgery at Laser Spine Institute. As part of that process, each of these surgeons have trained with others at Laser Spine Institute’s Tampa facility, including time spent under Michael C. Weiss, D.O., FAOAO, Chairman, Department of Surgery, Orthopedic Spine Surgeon.
