Stryker’s Reconstructive Division that partners with hospitals and physician practices to improve quality outcomes, patient satisfaction and profitability in the orthopedic segment, is launching a new digital patient engagement MAHWAH, N.J., April 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Stryker’s Performance Solutions (SPS), the business unit of and education platform to help improve the overall care delivery and experience for patients undergoing joint replacement surgery.  The program, known as JointCOACH, was announced today at Stryker’s 9th Annual Orthopedic & Spine Summit in Chicago.

The patient engagement and navigation platform will be available through Stryker’s Destination Centers of Superior Performance (DCOSP) offering, which includes more than 270 hospitals across the United States that have implemented care redesign programs for total joint replacement patients.

“This new platform should play a big part in helping our hospital customers manage a patient’s entire episode of care through CJR and voluntary payment bundles for 90 days and beyond,” says Stuart Simpson, Vice President and General Manager of Stryker’s Reconstructive Division.  “It represents another example of how Stryker is helping to facilitate the customers understanding of the shift to value-based care.”

JointCOACH is a web-based communication platform that enables joint replacement patients to communicate by computer or smart phone with their hospital care team during the entire episode of care, from the time surgery is scheduled until at least 90 days after discharge from the hospital.  Pre-op preparation, clinical protocols, information about medications and pain control, recovery and rehabilitation activities are delivered at key time intervals to patients during their journey, with a series of questionnaires and surveys to help insure they are involved and engaged in their care plan and experiencing a successful recovery.

“At the end of the day, it’s the patient who matters the most,” says Simpson.  “With this new platform, we have created a continuum of patient service that results in optimal care and positive outcomes.  We feel that it’s a necessary advancement in the orthopedic space.”

Hospitals that partner in care redesign with Stryker’s Performance Solutions will have access to JointCOACH beginning April 25, 2016.
