Dr. Marc A. Weinstein to Perform a Clinical Study With the FLXfit™ Lordotic Expandable Cage at Tampa General Hospital

OR AKIVA, Israel, July 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ —

Expanding Orthopedics Inc. (EOI), a privately held medical device company focused on developing and commercializing innovative expandable devices for spine surgery, is excited to announce that a clinical study with the FLXfit™ articulated and lordotic expandable cage has been approved by an IRB to begin enrolling patients at Tampa General Hospital. The study will be led by Dr. Marc Weinstein as principle investigator.

Dr. Marc Weinstein, at the Spine Center at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa, FL says, “I have found the FLXfit™ to possess the most important attributes I look for in an interbody cage.” He explains, “The FXLfit™ unique design, simple technique and instrumentation, allows me to deliver a large footprint device toward the front of the disc space where stability is critical”. Dr. Weinstein further noted that “enabling in-situ lordotic expansion is essential to accommodate patient anatomy and restore/maintain lordosis. This is critical for a successful near- and long-term outcome.”

Dr. Weinstein added, “Our initial series of 15 patients has shown impressive results with the ability to easily reproduce the desired anatomic outcome with a straightforward procedure”. He concludes “the clinical study will provide a more thorough investigation of this unique device and demonstrate its clinical value for our patients.”

Ofer Bokobza, CEO of Expanding Orthopedics, says that, “We are very pleased with the results we see so far with users across the US and are extremely excited to initiate this clinical study with Dr. Weinstein and his team at Tampa General”. Ofer adds “we are certain that this study and others to follow will consolidate our efforts to demonstrate the clinical benefits of the FLXfit™ and its ability to restore sagittal alignment and maintain it over time.”
