Anti-gravity treadmill helps seniors stay fit
Kyle Kiel
Defying gravity and defying age. A new, state of the art treadmill uses air pressure to make it easier to stand, walk or jog for those who need help regaining strength.
Friendship Manor in Rock Island has the new Alter-G anti-gravity treadmill.
The new machine reduces stress and strain on the body, giving patients more confidence as they recover from medical issues.
“That machine allows us to take gravity incrementally out of the equation and get people up sooner, get them moving with less pain and speed up their rehab process,” said Mark Leverenz, Friendship Manor rehabilitation director.
Friendship Manor has had the anti-gravity treadmill since the beginning of the February. Leverenz says he’s seen much success with his patients.
