ArthoCare names sales VP

Austin-based medical device developer and manufacturer ArthroCare Corp. (Pink Sheets: ARTC) today named Scott Schaffner senior vice president and general manager to its sports medicine division.

The former Zimmer Spine sales vice president and general manager assumes the new post Jan. 25, taking over for John H. “Jack” Giroux, who retires Jan. 15.

With more than 20 years experience in medical device marketing and sales, Schaffner will lead efforts for sport-medicine specific, minimally-invasive surgical products.

ArthroCare targets multi-billion dollar market opportunities in several medical specialties.
