Curexo Technology Corporation Raises $13.2 Million

FREEMONT, Calif., May 6 /PRNewswire/ — Curexo Technology Corporation, which makes an advanced “CAD/CAM” precise surgical robotic system for Total Joint Replacements, has announced it has closed on $13.2 million of funding.  Curexo plans to use the funds to further product development, establish initial clinical show sites in the United States and drive awareness of this breakthough approach.

The company indicates that the technology assists surgeons who use a virtual model of the joint, built from a patient’s CT imaging study, to pre-plan surgery down to the smallest detail with the system’s Preoperative Planning Workstation.  Their exclusive open architecture platform enables the use of implants from virtually any manufacturer.  This meticulous plan is then transferred to the ROBODOC® Surgical Assistant in the Operating Room. There the ROBODOC System carries out that plan with an unparalleled level of precision.

A privately held company, Curexo Technology Corporation said the Food and Drug Administration has already given FDA clearance to its unique active robotics technology, making it the only active robotic system cleared by the FDA for orthopedic surgery.  Their Total Knee Arthoplasty 510k module is currently under FDA review.  As a platform technology ROBODOC can have additional clinical applications added to it over time.

Today, although relatively new to the U.S. market, the ROBODOC System has assisted surgeons in over 24,000 successful joint replacement procedures around the world.

The company headquarters have recently relocated to a 34,000 sq foot facility in Fremont, CA. near the heart of Silicon Valley.  Home to Manufacturing, R&D, Engineering, Operations, Regulatory, Quality, Sales, Marketing, and Executive offices, theFremont facility more than triples their previous space with plans for further expansion.

Curexo Technology Corporation develops, manufactures, and markets this image directed surgical robotic system for orthopaedic surgery.  The ROBODOC Surgical System includes two components; ORTHODOC®, a computer workstation equipped with proprietary software for 3-D preoperative surgical planning, and the ROBODOC Surgical Assistant, a computer-controlled surgical robot utilized for precise cavity and surface preparation for hip and knee replacement surgeries.
