Orchid Orthopedic Solutions opening new facility in West Tennessee

Orchid Orthopedic Solutions is opening a $1 million manufacturing facility inJackson, Tenn., which will create as many as 40 jobs in the area.

Orchid, which specializes in contract design and manufacturing for the orthopedic and medical device market, is building the Jackson facility to complement a similar location the company has in Alabama. Orchid plans to use the Jacksonfacility to machine instruments, while finishing, assembly and inspection will be done in Alabama. Holt, Mich.-based Orchid operates in more than 20 countries and has 13 manufacturing facilities. It employs more than 1,500 people worldwide.

The company specializes in devices for joint reconstruction, trauma, spine, sports medicine, craniomaxillofacial, orthobiologics, dental and cardiovascular conditions.

Orchid currently has six employees inJackson and will add five more in the next month. It will operate in three shifts and could have 40 employees by the end of the second quarter. The Jackson facility will be located at 2715 Bells Highway.
