A medical device manufacturer out of New York announced last week it's opening an orthopedic design center in Warsaw.

Greatbatch Medical, out of Clarence, N.Y., said the center will include the latest generation of three-dimensional rapid prototyping equipment that incorporates multi-polymer capability, one of the most advanced printers available, as well as direct metal laser sintering equipment.

"The addition of these capabilities will expand both our service offerings and our ability to effectively partner with customers in developing and delivering effective solutions quickly." said Susan Campbell, senior vice president, orthopaedics, Greatbatch Medical. "This investment demonstrates our commitment to creating strong business partnerships to help meet our customers' needs."

The facility will be located at 265 E. Bell Drive, Warsaw.

There is no date set as to when the facility will open.

According to Greatbatch Medical, the facility will employ about 10 people. A spokesperson for Greatbatch said those positions will be filled locally, though they are not currently posting any positions.
