Q&A: Neurologist weighs in on concussions, NFL baseline testing protocol

As the NFL continues to grapple with the issue of concussions and awareness is continuing to be raised about the league’s concussion testing protocol, Dr. Vernon Williams, a neurologist and director of the Kerlan-Jobe Center for Sports Neurology & Pain Medicine in Los Angeles, discussed concussions with The Houston Chronicle.

The last concussion suffered by a Texans player was wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who sustained one during a loss to the Carolina Panthers and returned to practice five days later and then played without incident seven days after the head injury against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
