SpineWorks Medical Announces Name Change to SpineAlign® Medical, Inc. and Commercial Launch of SpineAlign Vertebral Body Replacement System

SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–SpineWorks Medical, Inc. announced today that the Company’s Shareholders and Board of Directors approved a name change to SpineAlign® Medical, Inc.

In December of 2008 the U.S.P.T.O. approved the Company’s federal trademark application for the SpineAlign mark. “We were excited about the approval of the SpineAlign name for our product offering and naming the Company as well allows us to make the investment into one brand identity,” stated Paul Chirico, President and CEO of SpineAlign Medical. “In addition, this dovetails well into our aggressive European commercial launch strategy planned for July of this year.”

The Company is currently planning a full commercial launch with its European distribution partners at the first joint American Society of Spine Radiology (ASSR)/European Society of Neuroradiology (ESNR) meeting scheduled for July 7-12 in Rome, Italy. This strategy comes on the heels of a successful funding round completed in the first quarter of 2009.

The treatment of spine disease is rapidly moving from open surgery toward less tissue disruptive procedures with the use of better imaging and innovative, minimally invasive devices. The SpineAlign device represents the first of many new innovations in the area of minimally-invasive, percutaneous vertebral body reconstruction to come from SpineAlign Medical.
