Corin-MAKO: five-year global distribution agreement

Corin has entered into a five-year global distribution agreement with MAKO Surgical Corp. Under the terms of the agreement, Corin will supply MAKO with a hip implant system for use with MAKO’s RIO® Robotic Arm Interactive Orthopedic System. Corin’s implant system will include the MetaFix hip system and the Trinity acetabular shell system.

Subject to FDA clearance, a commercial release in the US by MAKO of the Corin hip implant system is currently planned for the second half of 2011. The agreement also allows for the potential future integration of other Corin implant systems.

MAKO robotic systemRussell Mably, Corin’s Managing Director said: “This agreement marks a major advancement in our strategy as MAKO offer us the opportunity to position our high technology brands alongside the world’s most advanced robotic system. The partnership also complements the ongoing investment we have made in our own direct sales distribution, particularly in the US, the world’s largest orthopaedic market, and where MAKO already has significant presence”.
