Floyd named CEO of Warsaw-based Orthoworx

The former worldwide president of DePuy Orthopaedics, David K Floyd, is joining the Warsaw, Indiana-based OrthoWorx as its chief executive officer effective September 6, 2011, according to a press release from OrthoWorx.

Floyd, who originally served on the Board of Directors for OrthoWorx as one of its founding members until April 2011, also served as president of Centerpulse Orthopedics and president and CEO of AxioMed Spine Corporation. Floyd began his career at Zimmer in 1987.

“I am delighted to join OrthoWorx and to be able to draw on my experiences in leadership and in the orthopedic industry in a different way — to help the Warsaw region continue to thrive as the orthopedic capital of the world,” Floyd stated in the release.

Founded in 2009 in part by the Lilly Endowment, OrthoWorx has launched several projects to help nourish the Kosciusko County area in the subject of orthopedic devices, including launching the nation’s first graduate program in orthopedic regulatory and clinical affairs at Grace College. In December 2010, the initiative also sought to improve the local education system, holding meetings at Grace College in collaboration with a comprehensive study created by Cambridge Education, LLC to review the quality of Warsaw public schools.
