Written by  Laura Dyrda

The Journal of Managed Care Medicine recently accepted an economic analysis of minimally invasive spinal fusion using Baxano Surgical’s AxiaLIF procedure for publication.

Scott Parker, MD, director of the Spinal Column Surgical Quality and Outcomes Research Laboratory at Vanderbilt University and Matt McGirt, MD, of Carolina Neurosurgery and Spine Associates authored the analysis. Four key takeaways from the article show AxiaLIF:

•    Lowered cost per procedure by $3,500
•    Shortened hospital stays
•    Reduced hospital readmission
•    Had faster return to work
